Marcos,

The firmware is indeed not distributable and is is essential for the
midisport to work.

So the hardware will not be able to work with a distro on live CD 'out
of the box'.

BUT, would it be possible to add the needed files AFTER burning the ISO?

For instance that i can add a folder named
/firmware/midiman/midisport4x4 where i can place the firmware files
from this package http://usb-midi-fw.sourceforge.net/

I know it is a bit odd and i have no idea how it affects the Musix
distro, but it would give more people the oppertunity to try Musix and
enable them to use the CD 'on the go' without the need to buy more
hardware.

anyway, i'm going to figure out how to proceed, i want to learn these
packages and make music, most important part is a midi input and a low
latency reaction from a softsynth. can this be done with a basic
soundblaster thing? Or do those cards have too much latency just like
running under windows? Quiet a big step back on quality, but i have to
find a realistic way to get started.

Mano.
