interestingly i have just reproduced the bug using the debian package.
but just once, after it worked again.

can you reproduce this consistently every time you run the program?
are you running other programs at the same time?
what version of the package do you use? (dpkg -s freewheeling)
on what platform ? (cat /proc/cpuinfo)
also, have you modified your config file ~/.fweelin.rc
