The purpose of that meeting (as I understand it) is for members of this
group to gather again to deepen our own understanding about each other's
work, ideas and possible collaborations. The idea is to create a reflective
space for us to share work that is already underway, make connections where
possible, and brainstorm new ideas together. Some of the ideas we discussed
were to collaborate on future webinars and consider joint initiatives like
contributing materials or writing to publications or newsletters. In
addition to  increasing how we share our work and who participates, the
other issue raised was how to go beyond offering 1-off webinars that often
remain at an informational level, and try different formats (some new
structures were briefly shared), as well as, consider creating workshop
formats where participants would attend a series of sessions with guided
questions and activities to take back to their organizations and work on
in-between sessions. In this vein, maybe it makes sense for the next
meeting to focus on: (1) 1-2 critical ideas/concrete examples of the kinds
initiatives each of us are focusing on that we want to highlight/share (2)
examples of successful ways of convening and bringing together
different/diverse communities that we span, and (3) challenges and
questions about extending/expanding or deepening this work beyond
introductions and "show and tell" to something transformative.

*I also understood that a second meeting will be held soon that will be
focused on planning an initial joint webinar (or first in a series of
webinars/workshops) with PeDAGoG, Educere, Ecoversities Alliance, TAP, and
GTA on alternative learning/education* (possibly in late April)... (based
on a concept note from conversations that were started between these
organizations that was created and shared by Lina). This could become a
series of webinars joining the one being planned by Pallavi etc on their
course called Living Utopias. Maybe a sub-group for planning should meet
and design this initial session, possibly building from Lina's concept
note  (This earlier group was comprised of Lina, Vashna, Steve, Carol Anne,
Franco, Pallav Shrishtee, Ashish) and will be combined with Pallavi and
Sujit's initial planning. Can either Lina or Pallavi schedule this group in
the coming weeks? We can share an update at our March 31 meeting.

*A third webinar on higher education transformation (through this group)
and a fourth on* community resilience in times of crises and radical
alternatives (GTA, TAP, WeALL)*  will (hopefully) follow. We can discuss
and plan for those at the March 31 meeting.*

The note is composed of three parts: 1. the problematic: why does education
matter? (its ontological, anthropological and political basis and effects);
2. the principles and effects of modern and hegemonic education; 3. the
existence of other ways of understanding and practicing education, as well
as some of the general characteristics of these alternative conceptions.

In a previous meeting Vasna (from the GTA) proposed to invite Alessandra
Pomarico from Ecoversities Alliance, and I suggested to invite James
Montano, a professor from the Misak University (an indigenous university
based in the south of Colombia). Franco (from REEVO and GTA) proposed to
draw on the dialogue that was started by a webinar recently held by TAP (so
as not to start from scratch). At the end of the googledocs you’ll find the
points that were discussed in that webinar.
