Hi Brandon and All!
I have been around for some time without introducing myself.
I am D.Manjit, teaching in a college in the University of Delhi, Delhi
(INDIA). I teach Environmental History. And I am very concerned about
Climate Change.
Along with some friends and colleagues we have formed a group called the
TACC (Teachers Against Climate Crisis).
And in TACC,
"Our aims are two-fold – among teachers, to deepen understanding of, and
engagement with key aspects of the climate crisis: its science, impacts,
systemic roots, state policy, political economy, and ways forward. Most of
these facets are not static, and require reasonably regular updating.
Deepening this understanding among teachers would enrich conversations
about the climate crisis between teacher and student, and promote a deeper
understanding among students, including the fact that individual measures
are necessary but not sufficient – a systemic crisis necessitates systemic
and collective responses. Among students, we hope that such an improved
understanding will catalyse more active engagement outside of the classroom
and university, to demand the systemic changes needed at different levels
to tackle the crisis."
Hope that suffices as an introduction.
And I am excited about Pedagog having attended a meet on line. I hope to
continueengage with friends of Pedagog.
Thanks and warm wishes
D.manjit
