   Paul,
For my information, using this same technique, can I add packages from
the BDI 4.50 cdrom to a Ubuntu Dapper Drake system?
Since I have switched to Ubuntu, for whatever reason, good or bad,
this would be the easiest way for me to benefit from all the stuff you
   have put together.

You say we could use the cd to update an existing install. I am a
longtime linux guy, but not with debian. Any hints on how we can
start the upgrade?

To quote from Craig's posting:

1. Burn the .iso image with BDI 4.50.
2. Launch Synaptic.
3. Synaptic prompts for a root password..
4. Use the "Edit" pull down menu and "Add CD-ROM".
5. Click on the 'Status' box in the lower left corner, and select "Installed
(upgradable) from the menu.

By right clicking on any package in the main window, you can select to upgrade
(or remove).. Alternatively, 'Mark All Upgrades' icon on the tool bar and
then the 'Apply' icon.

Regards, Paul.

For the command line junkies:

 sudo apt-cdrom add
 sudo apt-get upgrade
