threading

Hi: I've been playing around with timing with pthreads. I've tried various ways of getting the controlling thread to sleep and post redisplay command to no success. The entire program tries seems to sleep even though the functions are stated to be thread safe, the redisplays don't seem to be acknowledged, etc. But, I just tried doing this through glutTimerFunc. It seems to be working for the test rendering. I'm not sure how the glutMainLoop works precisely. So, I'm not sure if I'll still need things like mutex's or not (though I doubt it). If this does change, then obviously the design will have to accommodate. So, coding wise, things shouldn't be assumed to be stable over the next little while for theVerse. Just a heads up. -- best regards, Reid Nichol wait worry who cares?

dynamically loading libs on win32 systems

Hi Michael: I just committed loadlib.[c,h] into theVerse/src as I don't think that this functionality is needed by the other modules. If I'm wrong, we can move it to common later. At any rate, looking through the MSDN, I made an attempt at making dl* functions for Windows. Though I used the examples to create these functions, I lack the ability to test the code. The only thing I know now is that what I've done doesn't mess up macosx, darwin or openbsd4 builds. So, once you start testing with audio enabled, this is something else that will need to be debugged (I doubt it'll compile and work straight off). Just a heads up :) -- best regards, Reid Nichol
