I think, that we should concentrate on what we share, and obviously we all share love for freedom. Sometimes we don't like what others do, quite often we think that we are right, and others are wrong, sometimes we make mistakes.
I think you should not continue that discussion. Both sides said what they had to say. There is no reason to get any deeper into it. If we could concentrate on the future, not past, that would be much better for all of us (and free software too :-)
Saravá Stefano TRADUCCIÓN AL ESPAÑOL ARRIBA Dear Jaroslaw, I'm afraid I didn't succeeded in clarifying my point. I'm not trying to assert any "absolute truth". But we do have a problem here: we are trying to work together without agreeing on any common framework. We may continue to do that but, in my experience, this will end up in a situation that's even worse then the actual, a situation that -to be short- I would label as "primordial chaos" or "law of the stronger". After Buenos Aires' facts the majority of us followed your suggestion. What did happen? Simply Federico went on, using the same methods, and ended up building a crippled FSFLA. A crippled FSFLA means a big present to proprietary software, means that we are all weaker than we were before it was built and that introducing free software in the south american continent we'll be harder than it was before. Take the University's example: we'll have first to explain that not everyone in the FS movement behave in such an unethical way and only THEN start to speak about Free Software. Double work. I strongly question the legitimacy of such an organization, for the ways it was built, because -in this case- the means are incompatible with the ends. This way of proceeding is uneffective (FSFLA is an elitarian reality that has no roots in Latin America) and unethical. I refuse to give my contribution to such a disgrace, even with my silence. But I may be absolutely misled by false perception, since I leave most of my time in Europe. So? How do we fix this? The answer to this question is what I'm interested in. If this group can't reply to this very basic question I'm afraid we'll have to forget about a "international coordination" between free software groups, simply because we're still not ready to take the responsibility that a power like this may mean. Do you Remember Ben Parker's Law? "From great power comes great responsibility" and I like to add "and great sense of limit". Because if you do not have the sense of your limits, you're a very poor person, even with all the power, money and presidencies of the world.
