Starting in the New Year, we're going to ramp up the number of stories we produce, diversify our coverage, deepen our influence with decision-makers, and expand our partnerships with news outlets and other organizations. We've committed to be more transparent, diverse, community-driven, and community supported. Moving forward, we'll also be engaging our readers more in our work — we look forward to hearing your ideas and suggestions! Portland, the smallest of Cascadia’s three major metropolitan areas, has perhaps one of its biggest and best ideas: the "residential infill project." ------------------------------ How a British library is fighting loneliness with a public living room <https://shareable.nationbuilder.com/r?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.shareable.net%2Fblog%2Fhow-a-british-library-is-fighting-loneliness-with-a-public-living-room&e=ceceb67696e2ef7bae91b06758c2cd2a&utm_source=shareable&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=weekly_12_14_16&n=7> Public libraries are home to a lot of things besides books these days: makerspaces, cultural programs, art events, coworking spaces, teen centers, Libraries of Things, tool libraries and more. But one library in Blackpool, England is using its space to fight loneliness and isolation on a very human scale — by creating a public living room. ------------------------------ [image: winterfundraiser2016_7_news.png] <https://shareable.nationbuilder.com/r?u=https%3A%2F%2Fdonatenow.networkforgood.org%2Fshareable%3Fcode%3Dnews1214&e=ceceb67696e2ef7bae91b06758c2cd2a&utm_source=shareable&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=weekly_12_14_16&n=8> ------------------------------ Featured Events Open 2017: Platform Co-ops <https://shareable.nationbuilder.com/r?u=https%3A%2F%2F2017.open.coop%2F&e=ceceb67696e2ef7bae91b06758c2cd2a&utm_source=shareable&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=weekly_12_14_16&n=9>— By providing a viable alternative to the standard internet business model based on monopoly and extraction, platform cooperatives provide a template for a new type of organization — forming the building blocks for a new economy. Open 2017: Platform Co-ops, the first event of its kind in the U.K., will explore how collaborative software and cooperative ownership models are being combined to create this new economy. ------------------------------ Upcoming Events Check out more events and post yours here <https://shareable.nationbuilder.com/r?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.shareable.net%2Fevents&e=ceceb67696e2ef7bae91b06758c2cd2a&utm_source=shareable&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=weekly_12_14_16&n=10> . <https://shareable.nationbuilder.com/r?u=https%3A%2F%2Fpendlehill.org%2Flearn%2Fvisioning-and-creating-a-moral-economy%2F%23.WBoZxJMrJE5&e=ceceb67696e2ef7bae91b06758c2cd2a&utm_source=shareable&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=weekly_12_14_16&n=11>Co-op Youth Convergence <https://shareable.nationbuilder.com/r?u=https%3A%2F%2Fyouth.coop%2F%3Fpost_type%3Devent%26p%3D393&e=ceceb67696e2ef7bae91b06758c2cd2a&utm_source=shareable&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=weekly_12_14_16&n=12> Jan. 27-29 Hampton, Georgia, U.S. Platform Co-ops Conference <https://shareable.nationbuilder.com/r?u=http%3A%2F%2Ffebecoop.be%2Fcases%2Fconferentie-platformcoops-brussel%2F&e=ceceb67696e2ef7bae91b06758c2cd2a&utm_source=shareable&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=weekly_12_14_16&n=13> March 9 Brussels, Belgium OuiShare Summit #9: Lisbon <https://shareable.nationbuilder.com/r?u=http%3A%2F%2Fouishare.net%2Fen%2Fevents%2Fouishare-summit-9-lisbon&e=ceceb67696e2ef7bae91b06758c2cd2a&utm_source=shareable&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=weekly_12_14_16&n=14> March 16-19 Lisbon, Portugal 2017 Creative Commons Global Summit <https://shareable.nationbuilder.com/r?u=https%3A%2F%2Fcreativecommons.org%2F2016%2F09%2F08%2Fannouncing-2017-creative-commons-global-summit%2F&e=ceceb67696e2ef7bae91b06758c2cd2a&utm_source=shareable&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=weekly_12_14_16&n=15> April 28-30 Toronto, Canada 4th International Conference on Social and Complementary Currencies <https://shareable.nationbuilder.com/r?u=http%3A%2F%2Fsymposium.uoc.edu%2Fevent_detail%2F3642%2Fdetail%2Fiv-conferencia-internacional-de-monedas-sociales-y-complementarias_-dinero-conciencia-y-valores-par.html&e=ceceb67696e2ef7bae91b06758c2cd2a&utm_source=shareable&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=weekly_12_14_16&n=16> May 10-14 Barcelona, Spain Support our work <https://shareable.nationbuilder.com/r?u=https%3A%2F%2Fdonatenow.networkforgood.org%2Fshareable&e=ceceb67696e2ef7bae91b06758c2cd2a&utm_source=shareable&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=weekly_12_14_16&n=17> [image: Shareable on Facebook] <https://shareable.nationbuilder.com/r?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FShareable&e=ceceb67696e2ef7bae91b06758c2cd2a&utm_source=shareable&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=weekly_12_14_16&n=18> [image: Shareable on Twitter] <https://shareable.nationbuilder.com/r?u=https%3A%2F%2Ftwitter.com%2Fshareable&e=ceceb67696e2ef7bae91b06758c2cd2a&utm_source=shareable&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=weekly_12_14_16&n=19> [image: Shareable on Instagram] <https://shareable.nationbuilder.com/r?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.instagram.com%2Fshareable_gram&e=ceceb67696e2ef7bae91b06758c2cd2a&utm_source=shareable&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=weekly_12_14_16&n=20> ——— Shareable · NextSpace Coworking One Hallidie Plaza, San Francisco, CA 94102, United States This email was sent to [email protected].
