Please support this initiative with your signature! The open letter was highly welcomed at the World Social Forum in Dakar by Brazilian Organizations who know that international pressure can make a big difference. The International Open Letter follows an Open Letter by the Brazilian civil society in December expressing concern that Rousseff’s appointment of Ana de Hollanda as new Minister of Culture might lead to a reversal of the progressive policies of under the Ministers Gilberto Gil and Juca Ferreira. The letter points out a range of achievements by the previous Ministry of Culture (MinC), including the support for free software, the Development Agenda at WIPO, an open inclusive dialogue in society about culture policies, the adoption of free licenses and the copyright bill. For some background on the issues see here. The letter, an initiative of Commons Strategies Group with the help of some friends, was presented to a considerable number of international media and communication networks at the World Social Forum and will be released to international media by Monday, February 21. The more people join us before the international media release, the better! Many thanks in advance for your support Silke Helfrich Commons Strategies Group _______________________________________________ Commoning mailing list [email protected] http://lists.wissensallmende.de/mailman/listinfo/commoning -- P2P Foundation: http://p2pfoundation.net - http://blog.p2pfoundation.net Connect: http://p2pfoundation.ning.com; Discuss: http://lists.ourproject.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/p2p-foundation Updates: http://del.icio.us/mbauwens; http://friendfeed.com/mbauwens; http://twitter.com/mbauwens; http://www.facebook.com/mbauwens Commons Strategies Group, http://www.commonsstrategies.org/
