I like the idea of coordinating student walkouts with OWS, but find the students' criticisms of Mankiw's class somewhat problematic. They probably need to understand the basic ideas of Smith, market-clearing prices, etc., before they study Keynes' modifications -- just as they need to be able to understand Newton before they tackle Einstein. I certainly can see the argument for a basic course on the history of economic thought, or a brief survey of heterodox economics in a study unit in Econ 101. But you should be able to do things like avoid subject-verb disagreement and dangling modifiers before you try to write like James Joyce. -- Kevin Carson Research Associate, Center for a Stateless Society http://c4ss.org Homebrew Industrial Revolution: A Low-Overhead Manifesto http://homebrewindustrialrevolution.wordpress.com Desktop Regulatory State: The Countervailing Power of Super-Empowered Individuals http://desktopregulatorystate.wordpress.com Organization Theory: A Libertarian Perspective http://mutualist.blogspot.com/2005/12/studies-in-anarchist-theory-of.html _______________________________________________ P2P Foundation - Mailing list http://www.p2pfoundation.net https://lists.ourproject.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/p2p-foundation
