The accumulation<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capital_accumulation> of money itself is an unnatural activity that dehumanizes those who practice it. Like Plato <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plato>, he condemns the accumulation of wealth. Trade exchanges money for goods and usury<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Usury> creates money from money. The merchant does not produce anything: both are reprehensible from the standpoint of philosophical ethics. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economics The term *economics* comes from the Ancient Greek<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ancient_Greek> οἰκονομία<http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/%CE%BF%E1%BC%B0%CE%BA%CE%BF%CE%BD%CE%BF%CE%BC%CE%AF%CE%B1> (*oikonomia*, "management of a household, administration") from οἶκος<http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/%CE%BF%E1%BC%B6%CE%BA%CE%BF%CF%82> (*oikos*, "house") + νόμος<http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/%CE%BD%CF%8C%CE%BC%CE%BF%CF%82> (*nomos*, "custom" or "law"), hence "rules of the house(hold)".[1]<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economics#cite_note-etymology-1> Political economy <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Political_economy> was the earlier name for the subject, but economists in the late 19th century suggested "economics" as a shorter term http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chr%C3%A9matistique La *chrématistique* (de *chrèmatistikos*, qui concerne la gestion<http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gestion> *ou* la négociation <http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/N%C3%A9gociation> des affaires et plus particulièrement les affaires d'argent ; *ta chrèmata*, les richesses <http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richesse> ou deniers<http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denier_(monnaie)>) est une notion créée par Aristote <http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aristote> pour décrire la pratique visant à l'accumulation de moyens d'acquisition en général, plus particulièrement de celui qui accumule la monnaie<http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monnaie> pour elle-même et non en vue d'une fin autre que son plaisir personnel1<http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chr%C3%A9matistique#cite_note-1>. Aristote condamne cette attitude. -- P2P Foundation: http://p2pfoundation.net - http://blog.p2pfoundation.net <http://lists.ourproject.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/p2p-foundation>Updates: http://twitter.com/mbauwens; http://www.facebook.com/mbauwens #82 on the (En)Rich list: http://enrichlist.org/the-complete-list/
