To: Michel Bauwens <[email protected]> Dear Michel, *Google as God?* *"..*strongly variable, highly complex systems cannot be properly managed by planning, optimization and top-down control. This calls for a fundamental paradigm shift.*"* In this article, written by Dirk Helbing of ETH Zurich, Dirk looks at the fundamental tension between top-down surveillance and control in a global social system that is growing ever more complex and unstable. We need a paradigm shift, Dirk argues, to what he calls a "democratic, participatory market society". A thought-provoking essay from one of Europe's leading complexity theorists. http://www.synthesisips.net/blog/google-as-god/<http://synthesisips.us4.list-manage.com/track/click?u=5c4cc0cbd91536cfdc1561804&id=512d954081&e=6be045a7b0> Best wishes, Greg Fisher Managing Director Synthesis IPS Check out our website: www.synthesisips.net Join us on twitter: @synthesisips<http://synthesisips.us4.list-manage.com/track/click?u=5c4cc0cbd91536cfdc1561804&id=38ebe00396&e=6be045a7b0> p.s. if you would like to remain on our contacts database but would prefer to unsubscribe from blog notifications, you can do this by updating your profile here<http://synthesisips.us4.list-manage.com/profile?u=5c4cc0cbd91536cfdc1561804&id=6c5a6cfdf2&e=6be045a7b0> . --------------------------- Unsubscribe<http://synthesisips.us4.list-manage.com/unsubscribe?u=5c4cc0cbd91536cfdc1561804&id=6c5a6cfdf2&e=6be045a7b0&c=7f67463eb3>me from Synthesis' contacts database.
