dear all,
Commons Josaphat <https://commonsjosaphat.wordpress.com/> is a Brussels collective that believes in the commons as a paradigm for urban development. To realize this, we worked out a proposal for the development of the Josaphat site, one of the last undeveloped pieces of land in our Region (24ha). The owner, the Brussels Region, wants to sell a big part of the land to developers. We propose to develop this futur urban neighborhood in a new way, in cooperation with existing civic initiatives: cohousing groups, community land trusts, energy cooperatives,... The principles are collective land ownership, anti-speculation, solidarity, collective management. (more info in the french version of our proposal for this Commons Neigbourhoud <https://commonsjosaphat.files.wordpress.com/2015/11/commons-josaphat_josaphat-en-commun01light.pdf> )
The presence of so many European commoners in Brussels is the ideal occasion for us to discuss our proposal with you and to learn of your experiences. That's why we organize a *workshop on Tuesday, 15/11 from 16 to 19h* at Zinneke, Place Masui 13 in Brussels. We want to organize exchanges between members of our collective and people who work elsewhere in Europe in the development of urban commons. We are mainly looking for concrete and inspiring examples. We would like to focus on:
- The drafting of a charter - Developing a governance model to scale of a neighborhood - Citizen funding of such a large-scale project - Models for the collective management of the public and common space
Can you let us know if you are enthusiast (and available) to participate the 15/11 from 16 to 19h? Thanks!
Annexed you'll find a short description of what we do. If you're interested, let us know, we'll send you a short presentation with more inof. Hope to meet you on our workshop (or at on other moment of the European Commons Assembly),
