Sorry I am way behind on my issues right now. I will look it over and provide any suggestions which seem appropriate. At this point an entry is way better than no entry. I still have my six intro level pieces to produce. for now, Tadit On Thu, 22 Sep 2011 06:11:55 -0400, robert searle <[email protected]> wrote:

Michel, and Tadit, et al, You may have both noticed that MMT is featured in most of the text if I recall correctly.....There is no separate entry on MMT on Wikipedia because I did a check. It is just rolled into the Chartalism entry. If Tadit has an issue on this he could go to the Wikipdia discussion section of Chartalism, and/or alternatively edit the existing page text. RS.

I have created an entry on chartalism,
but it would be nice to have one specifically on MMT as well,

Robert,
what you are describing as chartalism is more correctly a description of the MMT discourse, of which I am an advocate. Chartalism more accurately refers to the origin of currency as a "chartal" or token of value. The MMT is not just another discourse regarding economics. It integrates macro-economics, monetary issues, and functional fiscal policies. Functional fiscal polices include setting full employment as a functional goal, rather than a political slogan to be abandoned after the count. MMT advocates are sometimes described as chartalists, due to recognizing currency as tokens of value.

Michel, et al, I have done a check on the p2pfoundation site, and it appears that Chartalism is not present yet it is an important form of monetary reform. It is often known nowadays as Mondern Monetary Theory, or MMT. There has been some data on it already on the discussion group, but the wikipedia entry could in full, or in part go on the p2pfoundation site if desired.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chartalism Essentially, it believes that governments should create "enough" new non-repayable money to fund social, economic, and political concerns. Taxation is seen as a means of reducing inflation as opposed to raising revenues in the conventional manner. R.S.
