Digitisation of information has altered labour processes out of all recognition whilst telecommunications have enabled jobs to be relocated globally. But ICTs have also enabled the creation of entirely new types of ‘digital’ or ‘virtual’ labour, both paid and unpaid, shifting the borderline between ‘play’ and ‘work’ and creating new types of unpaid labour connected with the consumption and co-creation of goods and services. The implications of this are far-reaching, both for policy and for scholarship. The dynamics of these changes cannot be captured adequately within the framework of any single academic discipline. On the contrary, they can only be understood in the light of a combination of insights from fields including political economy, the sociology of work, organisational theory, economic geography, development studies, industrial relations, comparative social policy, communications studies, technology policy and gender studies COST Action IS1202 <http://visitor.benchmarkemail.com/c/l?u=38F1375&e=4BE69D&c=14F0F&t=0&l=6129149&email=Ygy%2BYVep8siioecn6OX%2FFXnlkRjLUbPe> brings together an international network of leading experts from 30 European Countries with researchers from other parts of the world to develop a multi-faceted approach to understanding these phenomena. This international conference will open up an interactive dialogue between scholars both inside and outside the network and will include both theoretical and empirical work. Themes include: *The new international division of labour* *Changes in skills and occupational identities in the digital economy* *Value creation in the Internet Age* *Policy implications of virtual work*. *For more information <http://visitor.benchmarkemail.com/c/l?u=38F17A0&e=4BE69D&c=14F0F&t=0&l=6129149&email=Ygy%2BYVep8siioecn6OX%2FFXnlkRjLUbPe>**T <http://visitor.benchmarkemail.com/c/l?u=38F1377&e=4BE69D&c=14F0F&t=0&l=6129149&email=Ygy%2BYVep8siioecn6OX%2FFXnlkRjLUbPe>o follow us on twitter <http://visitor.benchmarkemail.com/c/l?u=38F1377&e=4BE69D&c=14F0F&t=0&l=6129149&email=Ygy%2BYVep8siioecn6OX%2FFXnlkRjLUbPe>* _______________________________________________ NetworkedLabour mailing list [email protected] http://lists.contrast.org/mailman/listinfo/networkedlabour -- *Please note an intrusion wiped out my inbox on February 8; I have no record of previous communication, proposals, etc ..* P2P Foundation: http://p2pfoundation.net - http://blog.p2pfoundation.net <http://lists.ourproject.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/p2p-foundation>Updates: http://twitter.com/mbauwens; http://www.facebook.com/mbauwens #82 on the (En)Rich list: http://enrichlist.org/the-complete-list/
