Would it be reasonable to say that these views are highly exploitative when they are imposed top down (the Juiche position of Kim Il sung seems somewhat similar) but non-exploitive, in fact a very desireable goal when it is bottom up.

I sent this to my mail list and asked for comment from two members fluent in thai who have been living there a long time. I asked there opinion. They both replied that if they gave their opinion they would wind up jailed. One is economically well to do the other is not..... i have met both in person in thailand. The one who is not well to do i married to a thai and lives in a thai village a LONG way away from bangkok.
There is no freedom of speech whatsoever in Thailand. My perception is that there are two sets of elites.... one tied to the monarchy the other to thaksin and that neither likes this program. Michele lives there of course so he would know, but again remember that there are big risks in talking about Thai politics. even on mail lists. My perception is and i spent 10 days there in march of 2010 is that thais outside of bangkok and perhaps many within.... would say that you very much we are self sufficient and don't need any help from the higher ups. and further that they view this as exploitative.

Self-Sufficiency: a universal solution to the globalist problem. For an extreme in-depth look at Thailand's "Sufficiency Economy" and "New Theory" economics, please see, "Wisdom from the Orient: Self-Sufficiency<http://landdestroyer.blogspot.com/2011/07/wisdom-from-orient-self-sufficiency.html> ."

excerpts :
Thailand's Answer to the Globalization
The foundation of the self-sufficiency economy is simply growing your own garden and providing yourself with your own food. This is portrayed on the back right-hand side of every 1,000 baht Thai banknote as a picture of a woman tending her garden. The next step is producing surplus that can be traded for income, which in turn can be used to purchase technology to further enhance your ability to sustain yourself and improve your life-style.
...
Under the "New Theory," demonstration stations all across Thailand have been created promoting education in matters of agriculture and self-sufficient living. The program is competing against the contemporary globalist system, which as of now, is mired in many parts of the world with economic meltdown. The relatively self-sufficient nature of Thais in general has weathered this economic chaos fairly well. In 10 years, a plate of food still costs the same amount of money, as do many everyday commodities. This only further vindicates the value of being self-sufficient and now more than ever, in both Thailand, and abroad, it is a good time to get involved and get self-sufficient. _______________________________________________ P2P Foundation - Mailing list http://www.p2pfoundation.net https://lists.ourproject.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/p2p-foundation
