I think you need to give a complete location for the input file i.e. if = /home/username/.... Does this help? -----Original Message----- From: Jerzy <[email protected]> Reply-to: Musix GNU+Linux users list <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Cc: [email protected] Subject: [Musix-users] FW: Musix-20USB.img Date: Mon, 31 Jan 2011 20:59:15 +0100 Dear Sirs, Would you be so kind and reply to my email as below? Hi
I have downloaded the above system 4 GB in size and tried to install it on USB 8 GB stick as per instruction:
dd if =Musix-20USB.img of =/dev/sde1
Unfortunately nothing happened, as the source was not found!
Then I typed: dd if =/dev/sdd1/Music-20USB.img of = /dev/sde1
Again the path was not recognized?
Finally I typed: dd if =/dev/sdd1 of=/dev/sde1
This time the said file was just copied bite by bite without any extraction and installation of Musix system.
Would you be so kind and advise me what fault was made and how to proceed to get MUSIX_LIVE on USB persistent?
Hi, joseangon at musix-spanish-list answer you, I translate it: I understand you can't copy it, don't you? If it's true, do "ls" command at path where you uncompressed MusixUSB. Login as root, show your disks: fdisk -l And always we said, you can't back - so, you must know the *exactly* dispositive for copy. Do tail -f /var/log/syslog and plug your pendrive. You will see a lot of things/process, but we must need the name of your dispositive (like sda, sdb, sdc and so on). Then you can copy on it.
Would you be so kind and advise me what fault was made and how to proceed to get MUSIX_LIVE on USB persistent?
Persistent is done, you only plug-n-copy. You've 8GB, after to copy Musix, open gparted and change second partition for cover all free space (because it's a 4GB image). Write back your results.
Best regards Jerzy
