2. Re: Firefox/Thunderbird Startup Issue (Marcos Guglielmetti)
First off - my install (knoppix) went smoothly in spanish though i have some minor locale issues im sorting out. Thanks for your help Marcos.
Well... the recomended style is begginer, or Debian... Knoppix is almost like the live-cd style: I never used it... but, it could work for you, I dont know...
Why is that option included?
Because maybe some people likes the live-cd style
Will this choice inhibit me from upgrading?
No, no, but, I didnt tried it in an upgrade case
I have installed Firefox and Thunderbird and when I try to open either I recieve a error message stating "Firefox/Thunderbird could not be started as another instance of mozilla-fireforx/thunderbird is running. Close down this applications process and try again."
The solution was that the mounted drives were read only. fstab needed to be edited to have ntfs-3g and write enabled.
;-)
It thought that another process was running it because it couldnt write to it and root owned it.
Well, the firefox guys will have to solve this ;)
Now all works and my system rocks thanks Marcos you are a champion.
