Re: License of soundfont De: "Richard M. Stallman" <[email protected]> Para: Søren Bovbjerg <[email protected]> CC: [email protected] Fecha: 28/01/06 17:57
I am sorry to hear that. It seems that GPL prevents Marcos from including the soundfont then.
I think there is a misunderstanding. This issue has nothing to do with the GNU GPL.
The reason that Marcos cannot use your soundfont is that his goal is to make a system that is free software. If your soundfont's license were a free software license, he could use it. However, in fact the license that soundfont now carries is a non-free license.
I could have made GCC non-free, and Linus Torvalds could have made Linux non-free. Millions can enjoy freedom because we did not do so.
Maybe we could help you develop a license that is free and does what you need. To the extent that a soundfont is like a font, maybe something like the Open Font License would do the job. See http://www.gnu.org/licenses/license-list.html for a link to that.
