el-get recipes contain the source link for whatever the package is. In the case of evil, it is the gitorious repo. "M-x el-get-install evil" will fetch the evil source from gitorious, install it according to the recipe instructions and load it when you start emacs from now on. No risk of stale copies. :) -- Sarah
