So I was telling my colleague about how I finally got around to reorganizing my home office this past weekend. It was one of those tasks that had been on my list for months, just lingering there. You know how it is. I moved the desk to face the window, which seems like a small change but it makes a huge difference in the morning light. Then we started talking about the different types of chairs we've each tried. He mentioned one with lumbar support that he found really helpful during long calls. I said I just use a basic ergonomic one but I'm thinking of adding a small cushion. The conversation drifted to how our setups have evolved since we started working remotely more often. I remember when I just used the kitchen table. Now I have a proper monitor and everything. It was pretty fascinating. They were talking about how people are growing vegetables on balconies and small patios. I've tried growing herbs before with mixed success. My basil did okay but the cilantro bolted really quickly. Maybe it was too much sun. The article mentioned using self-watering containers which seems like a smart idea for busy people. My neighbor has a pretty impressive setup with tiered planters. She grows tomatoes and peppers. I should ask her for some tips. We got onto the topic of soil types and compost. I don't have a compost bin but I've been thinking about starting one. There are these small countertop ones that seem manageable. The article said you can use kitchen scraps like eggshells and coffee grounds. It feels good to reduce waste like that. Then the conversation shifted to different plant varieties that are suited for containers. Apparently there are dwarf versions of lots of common vegetable s. That's good to know because space is limited.
