Madwifi & ndiswappers for WiFi cards (other drivers available with a simple command). For a complete list of packages, please visit http://bdi4emc.ourproject.org and see under "BDI-4 info". Existing BDI-4 users can use the CD to upgrade an install using Synaptic without having to format & reinstall. Regards, Paul.
Paul, Thanks for all your work. You say we could use the cd to update an existing install. I am a longtime linux guy, but not with debian. Any hints on how we can start the upgrade? Thanks, Geert Paul wrote:

To quote from Craig's posting: 1. Burn the .iso image with BDI 4.50. 2. Launch Synaptic. 3. Synaptic prompts for a root password.. 4. Use the "Edit" pull down menu and "Add CD-ROM". 5. Click on the 'Status' box in the lower left corner, and select "Installed (upgradable) from the menu. By right clicking on any package in the main window, you can select to upgrade (or remove).. Alternatively, 'Mark All Upgrades' icon on the tool bar and then the 'Apply' icon. Regards, Paul. For the command line junkies: sudo apt-cdrom add sudo apt-get upgrade
Paul, For my information, using this same technique, can I add packages from the BDI 4.50 cdrom to a Ubuntu Dapper Drake system? Since I have switched to Ubuntu, for whatever reason, good or bad, this would be the easiest way for me to benefit from all the stuff you have put together. djs Paul wrote: Hi Geert On Friday 11 August 2006 19:58, Geert De Pecker wrote: You say we could use the cd to update an existing install. Ubuntu is a snapshot of Debian's testing repository (with perhaps a few tweaks & bug fixes). Certainly, you can install the BDI4 kernel & RTAI packages without any problems... I've not tried installing the EMC packages on either Ubuntu or Debian(testing) so can't really comment. In principle, they should work. If you want to try it and report back, I can try to offer solutions to any problems that may occur. One of the things on the ToDo list is to evaluate Debian(testing) as they freeze and migrate to Stable - I already have a hard disk loaded, but a h/w failure is preventing further work. Regards, Paul.
