BDI-4.51 released
by Paul 23 Oct '06

23 Oct '06

BDI-4.51 has just been uploaded to the servers. This release contains some 68 updated packages and new packages from sources such as Debian-security. These include XFree86, openssl, gcc, and gzip. New to the CD is yapps2, a tool used purely by emc2 development to autogenerate swathes of little kernel modules. Also updated: emc2-2.0.4 - See earlier posting about the "bug fixes". emc-1.0-51 - Tolerances for arc end points can now be set in the ini file. Setting of these can aviod many of the "Radius to end of arc differs from radius to start" or "Radius too small to reach end point" errors that crop up with the use of G2/3 moves. As always, the BDI-4 specific packages are also available from the repository, so there is no need to reinstall from the latest CD. Regards, Paul.

emc2-2.0.4 uploaded

To quote from a posting from yesterday on the emc-users list, a number of things have been "fixed" in the latest release.. <quote> * use scientific notation in halmeter only when really necessary * fix a position jump on stepper machines when reenabling after estop * fix moving to [EMCIO]TOOL_CHANGE_POSITION during M6 * detect and report to the user some realtime problems (unexpected delays) that reflect a problem with the hardware or realtime subsystem. * fix step sometimes moving significantly past the end of a segment. * fix bug where hitting step too quickly in a row could cause a resume. </quote> New packages have been uploaded to the BDI-4 repository should anyone want to test this release out. Regards, Paul.

Re: Feed rate override not working

Paul, thanks for the honesty below. Thanks everybody else also on the help with my feed rate issue. Just to let people know, I had to do two apt-get's First I did the "apt-get update" then I tested it and it still did not work so I found another spot under building EMC2 that showed the "apt-get upgrade" so I did that also. When I did that I also redid the update, it didn't pull anything new in. I ran EMC 1 and guess what, it worked. :-) Thanks everyone Andy PS It's okay you can call me a dumb newbie :-) >Message: 1 >Date: Sun, 08 Oct 2006 08:27:26 -0500 >From: Andy <andyholcomb(a)comcast.net> >Subject: [Bdi4emc-help] Should I be going to Emc 2 now? >To: bdi4emc-help(a)lists.ourproject.org >Message-ID: <4528FCBE.8030704(a)comcast.net> >Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii; format=flowed > >Hey guys thanks for the help I am going to try that here in a little bit >and see if it works. > >Should I be going to Emc 2 now? > >How much of a change is the set up? > >Andy > > > > > >------------------------------ > >Message: 2 >Date: Mon, 9 Oct 2006 01:42:48 +0100 >From: Paul <bdi4emc(a)bulldoghome.com> >Subject: Re: [Bdi4emc-help] Should I be going to Emc 2 now? >To: bdi4emc-help(a)lists.ourproject.org >Message-ID: <200610090142.48312.bdi4emc(a)bulldoghome.com> >Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" > > >Hi Andy > >On Sunday 08 October 2006 14:27, Andy wrote: > > >>Hey guys thanks for the help I am going to try that here in a little bit >>and see if it works. >> >> > >Always a pleasure to help out where I can.. > > > >>Should I be going to Emc 2 now? >> >> > >If you just need a reliable package for a stepper (or servo) driven mill, then >the answer is probably not.
