A campaign to the opposite effect - putting money and finance back under democratic control instead of leaving it with private corporations - is the Californian campaign for a Public State Bank. After the success of getting the Public Bank Act (AB 857) passed almost a year ago, this bank would complement the public banks on the city or regional level, each creating and channeling the funds needed not only for Covid-reponse and recovery, but also for the much needed restructuring of an economy that cares for all people and the climate.
