I hope this finds you well. I am writing today to ask you for help with a special project. After hurricane Maria devastated the island, Liz and I worked with a group of friends and colleagues for several weeks to develop a project to bring solar power to Puerto Rico after the destruction of their electric grid. We are planning to purchase off-the-grid solar units and distribute them to small communities throughout the island with the help of a network of women’s organizations.<br>

We have called the organization we formed “Barrio Solar,” and we just set up a website, twitter account, and crowdfunding page. I am attaching a copy of our press release, which contains further details.<br>
<br>
The last line of the press release contains links to the website and twitter. Clicking on “DONATE” on the website will take you to the crowdfunding page, which contains more information, including a short video. Our initial goal is to raise $25,000. One hundred percent of that money will go to help the people of Puerto Rico. We are off to a great start. During the first few days we raised about $5,000.<br>
