business and the bar
are celebrating the 800th anniversary of Magna Carta, the
landmark affirmation
of individual rights and law as a check on the power of the
king. What does the
“Great Charter” mean today when two very different sorts of
sovereigns, the
nation state and transnational corporations, now govern “the
King’s forests”? <u></u><u></u></span></small></p>

Two noted activists, David Bollier and Michel Bauwens of the
Commons Strategies
Group/P2P Foundation, will discuss the role of the commons and
peer-to-peer
production in meeting people’s needs and the many enclosures
of the commons
that are abridging their fundamental rights. The two talks
will also describe a
wide variety of legal innovations that commoners are inventing
to fulfill the
principles of Magna Carta and build a new socio-economic order
by constituting
new rules and norms for their common production, governance
and property
modalities.<br>

unterzeichnet. Ein
Teilgesetz, die „Charta of the Forests“ sicherte der
Gemeinschaft "der
Freien" (BürgerInnen und Bauern) Nutzungsrechte an natürlichen
Ressourcen.<u></u><u></u></span></small></p>

<p style="margin:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt"><small><span>An diesem Abend gehen wir der Frage nach, welche Bedeutung
der "Magna
Charta" heute noch zukommt: In einer Zeit, in der auf der
einen Seite der
Nationalstaat und auf der anderen Seite transnationale
Unternehmen in den
"Wäldern des Königs" das Sagen haben.<br>
Zwei bekannte Aktivisten und Ideengeber der Bewegung zum
Schutz der Commons
oder Gemeingüter (Allmende), David Bollier und Michel Bauwens,
berichten über
die Bedeutung der Commons und Peer-to-Peer-Produktion, ebenso
wie über den
Widerstand gegen die Begrenzung von Grundrechten zu ihrer
Nutzung. Beide
Vorträge stellen eine Vielzahl von bürgergetragenen aktuellen
rechtlichen
Innovationen vor, die den Prinzipien der Magna Charta folgen
und die
sozialökologische Transformation hin zu einer gerechten und
nachhaltigen
Wirtschaftsgestaltung befördern.<br>
Die Veranstaltung wird moderiert von Silke Helfrich, wie
Bollier und Bauwens
Mitglied der Commons Strategies Group. <br>
Nach den Vorträgen bietet die Veranstaltung Zeit und Raum für
Diskussionen der
Podiumsgäste mit dem Publikum, im Anschluss eine Gelegenheit
für Nachgespräche
