This was an unprecedented use of external agencies to spy on staffs&#39; private emails, SMS messages and Facebook postings. Of course, the irony is that it all took place at the height of the &#39;hacking&#39; scandal perpetrated by the national newspapers against &#39;celebrities&#39;, some of whom have now received substantial compensation.<br>
