</div>I have yet to see more than one discussion or exchange happen in my<br>
connection to Google+ despite thousands of invites to connect. It's<br>
the most populated place where not much at all is really happening<br>
online that I can think of! :)<br>

However it is true that Google tends to support data portability (via<br>
user interface and API). Google also recently tends to err on the side<br>
of contributing to commons, which is how we ended up with open source<br>
etherpad, and open source version of Google Wave. Google Wave itself<br>
supported connection to "bot" programs (and access to google app<br>
engine), which in turn opened the application up to all sorts of<br>
interoperability possibilities. I assume this is still part of open<br>
source wave. So, by my reckoning Google Wave had real potential for<br>
truly being an "interoperable social web" application.<br>

Google+ doesn't yet have a public API supported by Google.<br>
