** The first European Day of Sustainable Communities, 23 September 2017
The first ever European Day of Sustainable Communities will celebrate
the communities across Europe that are building local resilience
towards an equitable, low-carbon society.

Communities in eight countries have already registered events to mark the

To launch the day we are co-hosting a conference
in Brussels with the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) on
22 September.

This joint event will open a dialogue between policy makers and our
grassroots movements on how best to support citizen and community-led
initiatives in building pathways towards a low-carbon, ecological

The event will include a live link-up to communities from across Europe.

This will be followed by a panel debate on the potential of
collaboration between policy makers and communities to work together
to increase community-led action on climate change and sustainability.
