Improvised Publics :: Inheriting Liberation

Emergenc(i)es is an invitation to consider the emergency of the current
historical moment.
The exhibition will dwell in the question of emergence *within* emergency.
Performance, education activities, visual art, screenings, installations,
workshops and a library-cum-pharmacy will create time and space to
diagnose, explore and understand the world we live in.
*Control and Calculation*
The exhibition aims to provide a critical space in which to probe the
implications of digital infrastructures and how they shape everyday lives.
The exhibition will be held in Bristol, one of Britain's smart cities
<http://www.wired.co.uk/news/archive/2015-03/17/bristol-smart-city>.
We therefore want to include visual art (graphic design, video,
infographics) which explore the implications of smart cities for
- the surveillance and management of populations,
- democracy now and 'to come',
- generating of value & sustaining the information economy
- consent and freedom
*P**lease contact debiwithers at yahoo.co.uk <debiwithers at yahoo.co.uk> with
expressions of interest as soon as possible, but by 6 May at the latest.*
