Dear all,

as you probably know, this World Social Forum edition 2016 in Montreal will
host a dedicated Commons Space. The WSF Commons Committee has just
published a first (!) English and French language draft of the program for
the space which you can download here
https://commonsspace.hackpad.com/Franais-httpwiki.remixthecommons.orgimagesProgramme_Espace_des_communs.pdf-Cq9t8rdsRd1

One of the debates within that Commons Space was suggested to explore the
relationship between new political movements and the Commons. Occupy, M15,
social movements in several Latin Amerian countries, DIEM25 in Europe, the
climate justice movement, digital activists including Wikileaks, the Bernie
Sanders campaigners in the US, and others. Each has shown that (pressure
for) change comes from below, from common people doing uncommon things,
while using new tecnologies and ways of relating to each other.

How transformative are these movements? How do they frame their work,
strategies and slogans? What role do they play in the fight for the commons
and what role does the commons as a discourse and political paradigm play
for them?

We want to explore this topic through a fishbowl discussion and hope to
assess and openly discuss some of the achievements and aspirations of these
political transformations from a commons perspective.

Details here or on the hackpad below:
https://commonsblog.wordpress.com/2016/08/03/the-commons-state-power-and-new-political-movements-wsf-2016/

You are cordially invited to:
- assist if you are in Montreal and join the fishbowl
- spread the word through your lists and point me to ppl who might be
interested so that I can ping them
BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY contribute to the discussion even from a remote
position (your desk or armchair :-)

I 've started documenting the contributions I received during the
preparation process on the hackpad (special thanks to Mayo Fuster and
Jesse Chen!)

Please help us all to make the Commons visible at WSF2016!
