The below are google hangout videos from USI website:
i. Hack the Union from US interviews with Andrew of Union Solidarity
International:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=4U4FNAkZtSc
ii. A small step for unions, but a giant step for global labour
emancipation?: Unite the Union's USI mediates the established union
world entering into the networked organising (networganizing)
era!!https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=k6BmWC5lr8Y
and this is a nice article by Walton Patland introducing the ON:
http://www.scoop.it/t/networked-labour/p/4017080234/2014/03/05/karl-marx-on-facebook-what-is-the-ideology-of-your-social-network?hash=fd4c16ef-09d3-468d-a043-3b8de2a28135
the ON, is built by a USi as a free node on Lorea network. In this
framework they also, in collaboration with MayFirst/People Link
provide server space for floss distance education software
BigBlueButton (BBB) for the use of their members as well as grassroots
activist. BBB allows -if there is a date space enough to handle the
traffic- teleconferencing for infinite number of participants with
video and audio connection. This means, if well organised, mass
self-organising and education platform for workers and activists would
work efficiently. BBB also allows users to record their meetings, use
screen sharing, power point presentation, file sharing, multi lingual
chat so on during the conferences. If the new technology being
developed now for online simultaneous interpretation system also
incorporated to this platform, can' t see any reason for this project
not becoming a mesh network pulling many transnational labour an
justice activists into it take part and use it to organise globally.
there are already several active work groups created on USi's ON, can
be seen here: https://on.usilive.org/groups/all
