Now that the dust of the first CAPS (Collective Awareness Platforms for
Sustainability and Social Innovation) call has settled, I wish to update
you on the current status of this initiative, as well as on the next steps
The 10 projects selected in the first call are presented at *
. Most of them have just started, on October 1st. Your comments and
participation are most welcome!
We've also recently launched a large study on Digital Social Innovation,
which is setting up a network of organisations that use the Internet for

And I'm proud to announce that a second call, with an increased budget,
will be included in the forthcoming EU research program Horizon2020, as
priority ICT10; it will be officially presented and discussed on November 7
th in Vilnius, at the ICT13 event (9:50 Room H1A) *
During the same event, you will have a special opportunity to network with
other partners interested in this area, during the networking session
'Internet Science and CAPS' (booth 4, November 8th, 9:00-10:30) *
. 4A11 is also the booth where you will find more details about CHEST, the
CAPS project which will award 2.5 M€ of seed funding to Digital Social
Innovation activities in the coming months.
At the ICT13 Exhibition in Vilnius you will also find the project CONFINE
(booth 10714), which is launching its second Open Call (with a budget of
750 k€) on "Connected communities: A future internet, built by the people
for the people"
