research.  In their computer simulations of human evolution, scientists at
ETH Zurich find the emergence of the “homo socialis” with “other-regarding”
preferences.  The results explain some intriguing findings in experimental
economics and they call for a new economic theory of “networked minds”.**"*

In this guest blog article, we take a look at some fascinating research
conducted at ETH Zurich by Thomas Grund, Christian Waloszek, and Dirk
Helbing.  I have called the article "The Emergence of Niceness" because
this is essentially what their computer models have illustrated.  The
implications are significant e.g. economists will have to re-think their
traditional assumption of selfishness and also how they think about
rationality.
