Seung Chan Lim has written a book titled "Realizing Empathy: An Inquiry into 
the Meaning of Making".   His idea is that production is fundamentally an 
exercise in empathy and not about innovation or creativity.  He's just finished 
a successful kickstarter project to fund the printing and is trying to build a 
community around this idea.
