This is certainly reason for hope that the Maunder Minimum will offset
the damage from anthropogenic global warming.  If it's a severe and
long-term cooling as in the XVII century, it might be enough for us to
get our ducks in a row and reduce emissions in the short term (Peak
Oil would have run its course by the time the Minimum ended) and come
up with geoengineering projects for the long-haul.
