You are getting this email because you are:

   - part of the Dadamac Community
   - or one of our friends
   - or some one I met recently who asked for more details.

Each November since 2005 Dadamac has an annual online celebration of some
kind. We've included video links-ups (very clunky due to bandwith problems
but great fun for putting faces to names), a visiting choir performing at
Fantuam, and a fringe event at barcamp Africa. Our first celebration was a
yahoo chat and have also used the worknets chat room, and skype. This year we
are celebrating Dadamac Day on an etherpad and you are invited to join us.
The etherpad approach means it will be simple low bandwidth typed chat, with
an ongoing summary of what is going on, and no special software required.
We hope this will make it easy for everyone who wants to do so to join in.

Details below - but main points are Thursday November 3rd. 3pm GMT John Dada
will be online for a chat, I'll be there earlier. Other friends will be
there too. We'll have a good sociable time, catching up with news from all
over the place, from the last year, and you are invited to join us then - or
to drop by any time from now to sign our visitors book.

*To join in just click on the link*

You don't have to sign in or download anything. You just click on the link -

*You can join in on Thursday 3rd November for the celebration online meeting
*

You are invited to join us
online<http://etherpad.openstewardship.net/November-First-Thursday-and-Dadamac-Day>for
an etherpad typed chat. Various Dadamac people and friends of Dadamac
will be online between 1pm and 4pm GMT. For your local time see The World
Clock – Time Zone Converter
http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/converter.html - and for those of us
in countries with daylight saving please note it is around the time that we
*change our clocks *so please double check local times. You are not expected
to stay the whole time - just drop in when it suits you. John Dada will be
joining us around 3 pm Nigerian time (2pm GMT)

*You can join in throughout Novemebr by signing the visitors book and saying
how you connect with Dadamac *

You can simply "drop by and sign our visitors book". You can do that at any
time from now. Just click the
link<http://etherpad.openstewardship.net/November-First-Thursday-and-Dadamac-Day>Read
down the page a bit and you'll find instructions for joining in. Just
type in your name and country and leave us a message. If you have time to
write something about who you are and how you link with Dadamac better
still. However, even if you just put your name and country and there is no
message it would be lovely to see that you had visited our celebration.

*What if too many people turn up for the celebration?* - I don't think it
will be a problem. How if there is a problem please send me a skype or yahoo
instant message if you can (even if I don't seem to be online) If I know we
have people waiting to get in I'll suggest some people move over to another
online space to make room for newcomers.

If for some reason you can't get in please come back afterwards to read the
archive and sign the visitor's book.
  *
Hoping to connect with you to celebrate Dadamac Day.*

Pamela
