The one thing that is really interesting about this piece for me, and
our earlier discussion about whether markets can be "self-regulated"
(besides Smari and Michel's great responses to that thread) is the
ever-present factor of the fundamental assumptions of the people who
make up what is being discussed.

P2P ecologies come into being where people have resolved in their
minds a set of fundamental assumptions about the way in which they
will operate.

My own perspective is that bringing about more p2p ecologies means
finding where people are ready now to have this resolution in their
minds. The clues are not only in what people are doing, but more
importantly discerning why they are doing it, and what is happening in
the total environment they are in. You can only really do this by
going and looking at the environment(s), and talking with the people.
So, theory is tremendously important. Equally as important is
practical direct connection with communities so that one may
understand how theory resolves with reality.
