Hi Apostolis,

I think the issue in Egypt was the need for an all-class alliance, and
therefore, the need to rally the upper classes, including the army,
necessitated a compromise around liberal democracy ... this means indeed
that in the very best of cases, they'll end up in the mess were are in
(which is arguably better than the dictatorship of Mubarak but in current
circumstances a dead end) ....

the european movement starts where the middle eastern stops, but at the same
time, the mechanism of change is unclear to me; agreed that the traditional
political system is broken, probably (almost certainly) beyond repair ..

what is not clear to me is however the mechanism of translating the demands
into concrete implementations ...

illuminations about how the emerging social forces look at this would be
very welcome,
