Compilation of articles on the following act :

*the Act legislatively
codifies**[6]<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Defense_Authorization_Act_for_Fiscal_Year_2012#cite_note-5>
the
President's authority to indefinitely
detain<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Habeas_corpus_in_the_United_States>
** terrorism suspects, including American citizens, without trial*

as defined in Title X, Subtitle D, SEC 1031(a-e) of the
bill.[7]<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Defense_Authorization_Act_for_Fiscal_Year_2012#cite_note-6>
Because
those who may be held indefinitely include U.S. citizens arrested on
American soil, and because that detention may be by the military, the Act
has received critical attention by theAmerican Civil Liberties
Union<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Civil_Liberties_Union>
(ACLU)
and media sources.[8]<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Defense_Authorization_Act_for_Fiscal_Year_2012#cite_note-7>

"One provision would authorize the military to indefinitely detain without
charge people suspected of involvement with terrorism, including United
States citizens apprehended on American soil. Due process would be a thing
of the past."

Ambiguous but alarming new wording, which is tucked into the National
Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) and was just passed by the Senate, is
reminiscent of the “extraordinary measures” introduced by the Nazis after
they took power in 1933.
...
In sum, the wording appears to create a parallel military justice system
that, theoretically, we are all subject to. All that would be needed is an
allegation by someone that we assisted someone who in some way assisted
someone else in some way. An actual terrorist act would not be needed – and
neither would a trial by one’s peers as guaranteed by the Constitution to
determine actual “guilt.”
