A fix is added in commit 69a8920, but it's merely a `defadvice' of the
existing mouse selection commands. Hence, the "translation" goes the
other way -- from Emacs' region to an equivalent Visual selection --
and the positioning of the cursor is limited by that fact.

I believe Frank did a more thorough job in vim-mode, where he wrote
his own commands instead.
