With COP16 underway in Cali, Colombia, Miriam Lang highlights the risk of
focusing on biodiversity credits as a solution to preserving biodiversity
may preclude discussions of a transformative politics outside of a
market-based logic. What is needed is a change of the very logic that
drives environmental politics at all levels towards one that foregrounds
relational worldviews, care and reciprocity with nature instead of the
patriarchal, modern impulse to commodify, dominate, and destroy it.
