Wealth inequality has been rising to historic levels within the past decade.

This webinar will explore a vastly more progressive option that has been
hot on the news in recent months – that idea of a Wealth Tax – to tax the
rich rather than the poor. It has been the subject of electoral platforms,
of media pronouncements by lawmakers, and even remarks from unexpected
quarters like the IMF/WB. From civil society and social movements, it is a
call whose time has come.

This event is co-organized by the Asian People’s Movement on Debt and
Development (APMDD), the UP Center for Integrative Development Studies
Program on Alternative Development (UPCIDS AltDev), Freedom from Debt
Coalition (FDC), and Bukluran ng Manggagawang Pilipino (BMP) or Solidarity
of Filipino Workers.
