Dear all.

Yesterday I watched the live streaming of an event in honour of the 68th
Dies Natalis of International Institute of Social Studies (ISS) that also
happens to be my alma mater. It was organised in the form of a debate/
discussion / conversation around three global crises of our times today i.e
Black Lives Matter, Climate Change, and COVID 19 primarily between Dr.
Aminata Cairo, an anthropologist who spoke on the Black Lives Matter
movement; Professor Wendy Harcourt ( also a member of this network,
PEDAGOG) who spoke about the politics of care and collaborative well being
that the crisis of COVID-19 has foregrounded; and Professor Murat Arsel who
led a short but fascinating discussion on Climate Change.

Here is the link on Youtube :

the first 15 minutes of ISS music!)

The reason why I am advocating for its viewership in this group is that
apart from the themes outlined above the speakers, in a very short time,
gave us a glimpse of so many underlying sub issues from the limits of the
European Green Deal, increasing inequalities and the response from
communities, the energy and visibility of Youth Activism, the complicity of
voters in voting for governments that aggravate these crisis, a new role of
academia, and the need for a new kind of solidarity amongst others.

I enjoyed it very much and thought of sharing it with you all as well!

Best,
Pallavi
