I knew Detroit had to have some really great restaurants if I looked hard enough, and Wright & Co. definitely fits the bill.
We arrived at 7:30pm on a Monday night w/o reservations and were seated right away, but the restaurant was pretty close to full. I would imagine on Fri & Sat reservations would be a must if they accept them.
The restaurant is industrial loft ambiance with funky metal ceilings and big windows. Very noisy though - I had a bit of a sore throat by the end of the meal from trying to converse over the noise. The noise was probably the only negative to an otherwise perfect meal.
Wright & Co. is a "all small plates" concept with so many good choices that it was really hard to choose. We ended up with five dishes between myself and my colleague, which was a little more than we could eat, and I took home a dessert for later because it just sounded so good.
Everything we ordered was delicious. I will now attempt to rank the items from favorite to least favorite but least favorite is still an "A" on the report card here, so keep that in mind.
The first three dishes are pretty much a tie. I'd be hard pressed to say which is "the best". Just order them.Pasta w/ gorgonzola, italian sausage and walnut crust - perfect in every way. Just the right amount of "bleu" in the cheese, not overpowering as some gorgonzola dishes are, and by no means weak. It truly pained me that I did not have room in my belly for the last couple bites in the dish.
Pork Belly Sliders - these came with tomato jam, sriracha mayo, some kind of leafy green on brioche and were deliciousness itself. Kind of hard to cut in half and they come in a set of three. So ideal if you have three at the table. Or I recommend fighting over the last one.fa136e57392093479095a5a40f033715
