We shared the oxtail and jerk pork entr??e which came with sides of coconut rice and fried plantains. My sister also ordered a ginger beer and I had mango passion fruit juice, both of which are freshly made there! This little joint was very busy which goes to show that their food is that good and worth the wait. Back A Yard is the type of place where you place your order at the counter, take a number for the table, and they bring your food to your table. Even though they were busy, our food came out in a timely manner and we had a decent sized group.
The food was as good as the Yelp reviews said! Everything was flavorful and tender. The oxtail could have had a little more substance to it but overall was great. The sauce it was cooked in was slightly spicy but not overwhelmingly so. The pork chop was tender and I typically don't like pork chops since they tend to be dry. This one however was easy to cut apart with your fork. The friend plantains were crispy on the outside, tender inside, and steaming hot. At first I couldn't pin point what was in the rice since it had a sweet flavor but later figured out it was coconut rice which complemented the salt/spice in the pork and oxtail.
I highly recommend trying Back A Yard if you've been wanting to try Carribean food but want to ease into their cuisine. Everyone working here was very friendly which lent even more to the relaxed, warm environment..fa136e57392093479095a5a40f033715
