for water when all three of our glasses were completely empty. He was very knowledgeable... to the point of condescension on a couple of occasions. The beer list is a beer-lovers haven. Just magical... and organized in a non-pretentious, easy-to-navigate way. The cocktail list was inventive and diverse and seemed to have something for every taste. All in all, if I ever make it back, I will sit at the bar and enjoy some beautiful conversation on food and drink and the history of the cicerone. I've been here about half a dozen times, including once for a beer dinner, and have always enjoyed it. First, the beer selection is amazing. They have a number of flights you can try or the bartenders will give you a sample if you ask. They are very knowledgeable and can help steer you in the right direction if you are overwhelmed. I've discovered a number of beers thanks to Meddlesome and if you "like" them on Facebook, they will update you on their weekly cask special. As for the food, I think your experience here will depend on what you order. I have a hard time ordering anything but the classic mussels which come in a delectable buttery garlicy wine sauce. They serve it with slices of rustic bread that are perfect for dunking. Other good choices are the shrimp & grits, the ribs, the fish & chips and the meat pies. They recently had a fried chicken special which was pricey but pretty incredible. I like the atmosphere and it's a great place for either drinks or a meal. And if you get the chance, definitely check out one of their beer dinners. We went to the Allagash one and it was a memorable experience. My first trip here and it was with a Meetup Group. There was only one area for a small group off the main area and it was in use. . They actually had planned on sitting our group outside. Which in December after dark isn't that bright of an idea. We came back inside and parked along the rail behind the bar. It can get rather crowded as there isn't a lot of room around the bar area even if you are sitting down. For Happy Hours, they run a red ribbon special. Selected brews are discounted and distinguished by a red ribbon over the tap. They offer a variety of beers, both local and imports. The bartenders are knowledge, friendly and had a good sense of humor. They answered questions and were quick to recommend a brew and allow you to try a samples. I wasn't hungry enough for a full meal, although what we being brought out to the tables looked very good. We tried the pork belly . Excellent! Flavorful, with a crisp skin and tender pork without being overly fatty. The blue cheese gave it a richness that complimented the meat. . I got the steak tartar. A generous portion of succulent beef, flavored nicely with a bite of pepper. Served with two different sauces and crusty toasted bread rounds, it was well worth the price. The free valet was a bonus since parking isn't that easy to find close. All in all, I really enjoyed the Meddlesome Moth and will go back. My goodness, the food was incredible and the service was impeccable. Everything we tried was fresh and well seasoned all arriving just as described on the
