A tiny complaint - I found the fig and cherry jelly to be too sweet. The idea is a nice touch, but I couldn't discern any actual fruit flavor from the generic sweetness of the jelly. In fact it reminded me a little of those fake 'fruit-flavored' pancake syrups that don't actually contain any fruit. Apparently the owner / chef makes the jelly from scratch on a regular basis, so it may be the case that this was an exceptionally sweet batch. It didn't stop me from enjoying the sandwich, but I don't think the jelly really had its intended effect that day. I got the Monte Cristo after reading about it here on Yelp. Heavy, indulgent and very tasty. I liked it a lot, but it's just too much sandwich to be a regular thing. Based on the quality of the Monte Cristo, though, I'd definitely like to try some other options on the menu, maybe something that wouldn't feel gastrointestinally overwhelming. First time and it won't be the last time. I walked up to the truck yard area hearing guys yelling
, little that I knew it was where I was gonna be eating lol! It's a bright red fire truck lookin trailer with basically character and sassy written all over it. I sure did dish a good lip back while calling out my order literally! Make sure you call you order out loud he likes it that way and when he asks what I wanted to drink I said your mom hahaha!! I had a blast and definitely walked away half alive after eating the monte cristo! I have been in Austin my whole life, and somehow never gotten a chance to try this place out until today. I ordered the Monte Cristo and it was honestly one of the best meals I've ever had in this city. Shiner bock beer battered monte Cristo with pit smoked ham and mesquite smoked turkey, cheddar and provolone cheese, and a home made fig and cherry jelly, lightly topped with powdered sugar. Oh and homemade chips. ORDER IT! Absolutely amazing. The service is fantastic too. Highly recommended!
