I really want to give Founding Farmers 5 stars, but was VERY disappointed by my second visit. I visited Founding Farmers for the first time on a Saturday morning. While my father and I waited over an hour for a table for two, the food and service were well worth it. Their waffles are TO DIE FOR and the strawberries and cream waffle was the best waffle I have ever had. Our waiter was knowledgeable and attentive, even with a full dining room, and the coffee was both strong and hot. I returned to Florida from apartment hunting raving to my mother about this place. When I came back to DC to move in, I HAD to take my mother and there. She is a breakfast and coffee lover...but we were so incredibly disappointed. We made a reservation for 4 and were sat promptly. As it was a weekday, the restaurant was less crowded, but the service was abhorrent. While our coffee arrived hot, by the time our server remembered the cream (after asking twice) it was ice cold. She completely forgot my boyfriend's Arnold Palmer and he had to request it again when she asked, "Are you sure there isn't anything you would like to drink?" I ordered the Founding Farmers Breakfast with Chicken Sausage and scrambled eggs, my father ordered the Carrot Cake Pancakes, my boyfriend the chicken and waffles, and my mother the Drag through the Garden Pan Scramble. My breakfast arrived ice cold, two meals arrived 15 minutes before the other and my father had to request silverware twice before it was brought. Our waitress was either having an awful day or incompetent. My mom loved the scramble and the carrot cake pancakes
