chunks of juicy fruit that had caramelized on the grill. Another had a sour cherry topping with cinnamon whipped cream and pearls of streusel. The "Cinnamon Bun" pancakes had vanilla chips folded into the batter and a rich cinnamon butter. Per brought us a complimentary 8 inch sweet potato pancake which was lovely. So I liked the food here. It was decent. In fact, they do a good job of making standard breakfast fare seem more fancy and interesting. But the key to my 3 star review is that this place is NOT worth 45 min to an hour wait time. Sure, it's pretty trendy and decorated well, it's got a myriad of fancy pancakes, but it's not revolutionary by any means. Please realize that 3 stars means "A-OK", and Snooze is definitely that, but I'm definitely not "a fan", as 4 stars would indicate.I thought my sweet potato pancake didn't really taste like sweet potatoes at all, my bacon was under-cooked and not crisp and although they offer free coffee at the door for people waiting, it took 20 minutes for them to refill it after it ran out. On the other hand, the hash browns were very very good, in the mold of Pete's kitchen I'd say. They were soft and crispy all at once and I love hash browns like that. The brekfast taco was very good as well. It had cheese, hashbrowns, and eggs in it and came with a pretty darn good pico. Oh if you're saying to yourself, man Nick had a really weird meal at Snooze, I mean what dish has hashbrowns, pancakes, tacos, and bacon? I have a couple of words for you.... "Ala-Carte". I bought pretty much everything they had ala-carte so I could sample the whole menu. So in summary, I think that people wait in line here "to be seen" and because it's trendy. It's definitely not due to just the food. If you can catch a short line here, by all means, enjoy some good breakfast... I heart Snooze! I really really really do! For all of us SF'ers, envision Snooze as a hot local spot you might find in The Mission ... Oh how I wish I could transport Snooze and the staff here - now! We stopped in this past Friday for a yummy breakfast - a break from the tail end of a looooooong week at the Forensics Conference. We didn't know what to expect. Wow. It's like all the people that live in Denver, don't go out at night, but instead go out for breakfast --- at Snooze! It was hoppin'! I love it! Yes there was a bit of a wait. But since when is waiting for a cool and hip eatery a bad thing? Does that not mean it's worth the wait? Does that not mean you want it even more? Ummmmmm YAH! Once we were seated, the gregarious and adorable bartender/waiter Matt came up, sat down beside me and chatted about what was on the menu ... Reallllllly .... I like. Of course his piercing blue eyes didn't hurt. And oh wait, the fact that when we asked about the tattoo we saw peaking out from his "Pancakes" Tshirt, he gushed saying he was embarrassed and then proceeded to open his shirt to show us the entire work of art ... Seriously - what a fantastic place! I've been meaning to review this place for a while, but only recently got back in to yelping.
